Election Department
Elections are held in our parish throughout the year. Some are local and some are parish wide.
This office works with the Registrar of Voters and the Louisiana Department of Elections to maintain a fair and honest voting system.
The Elections Department qualifies candidates for local office while the Secretary of State qualifies candidates on the state level.
This department also coordinates commissioner training, election notices, voting machine logistics, and election-day support.

Throughout the day, precincts are visited by the Clerk to assist commissioners and the public with election concerns.
Election information is processed locally and transmitted electronically to the Department of Elections.
Watchers are allowed at polls but must follow election laws and commissioner authority.
For more information, call the Registrar of Voters Office at (318) 428-3281.
- Watchers must be qualified voters and may not be candidates in the election.
- Watchers may observe and take notes, but may not interfere, electioneer, or delay voters.
- Lists of watchers must be filed with the Parish Board of Election Supervisors by the legal deadline.
- A watcher must present a valid commission before serving at the polling place.

Commissioner Schools are held before each election and are open to the public.
